Yahoo has an article posted that was written by the Associated Press highlighting what a drag Hilary Clinton would be as our nominee.  The article discusses here high negative ratings across the country and how it will impact down ticket races across the country in 2008, particularly in red state congressional races that the Dems picked up in congressional races in 2006.  One particularly disturbing number comes out of the state of Colorado, which has been trending Democratic the last couple of yeas.  Dems hope to pick up Colorado's electoral votes in 2008, along with an open Senate seat.  Clinton's unfavorable rating is 16 percentage points high in Colorado than her favorable ratings, suggesting a potential electoral meltdown in Colorado for Dems in 2008.

We are heading for disaster if she ends up as our nominee.

Not for Hill, But... (KathyinBlacksburg - 8/13/2007 12:32:10 PM)
I am definitely not voting for Hillary, but I am always suspicious of the motivations of reporters trying to persuade us at this point.  It is my belief that, in due time, the media will turn its negative sights on her.  One at a time, they will try to pick off our candidates.

We need a full discussion of the merits of all the candidates among Democrats, so informed decisions are made all around.  But polls used right now are less informative than manipulative.  It's still a long way to Dec. (or whatever month toward which the next state will try to up the ante.

I do not trust any stories like that, that they print. Just how can anyone continue to get close to 50 per cent ratings be a drag on the Demos. It sounds like Rove is already feeding negatives.

But, consider Colorado has been a Republican state, so what would anyone expect from a state that leans Repub. Take VA. It is/was a Repub. state and I imagine she will be negative here, also. I still believe that negative is because of Bill. She is growing as a person of her own, but isn't a dumb as Gore, who ran away from Bill.

Yes, I lean towards Hillary and expect her to win the nomination, but I will support who ever is the Demos candidate.

Polls simply do not bear this out... (SaveElmer - 8/14/2007 2:38:46 PM)
Recent polls from OH, PA, FL, NH, and even Colorado show her doing quite well in general election matchups...

Quinnipiac has her beating all Republicans in FL, OH, and PA...with negatives in the low 40's...a big improvement...

Rasmussen shows here with a substantial lead over all Republicans in Florida, again with a  dropping disapproval rating...

She is tied with Guiliani in OH according to Rasmussen, and beating all other contenders...

And even in Colordao where she is 10 down to Guiliani, she is tied with Thompson and Romney...definitely within striking distance in a state where I don't believe she has yet set foot...
