CQPolitics on 11th Congressional District Race

CQPolitics has an analysis, reprinted in the New York Times, about Virginia's 11th Congressional District.  One observation jumped out at me: ""Two prospective candidates - Democrat Doug Denneny and Republican Keith Fimian - already have recently filed candidacy paperwork with the FEC."

That's interesting news: I'd never heard of Keith Fimian before, and I had heard rumors - but on confirmation - that Denneny had filed.  By mid-September, we should know a lot more, including what Leslie Byrne will do.  Also, we should know for sure whether John Warner really will retire, and if so, what Tom Davis will do.  September should be a rockin' month in the 11th CD!

Doug should formally announce within two weeks (teacherken - 8/12/2007 11:06:44 AM)
he has already set up an ActBlue account.

And he is moving forward, but also trying not to interfere with the General Assembly races.

NOTE:  he is a friend from the Webb campaign, and I offer informal advice, but have no role with the campaign, nor have I endorsed him.  I note he chose to get into the race without knowing whether or not Davis will run again.  I am guessing that Byrne is exploring multiple possibilities beyond the 11th CD, including for the US Senate or again for LT. Gov.  Of course, all of these depend on the plans of John Warner, Mark Warner, and Tom Davis.

I sincerely doubt that Gerry Connolly will announce unless and until Davis announces he is not running again.  Methinks that will hurt him, his unwillingness to get in now.

Peace.
