Rep. Virgil H. Goode Jr., R-5th, sought to help the company expand in his district. He said Tuesday that he is researching how to give to charity his MZM political-action committee contributions. Those donations have totaled $16,000, according to the nonpartisan Center for Responsive Politics, which tracks campaign finances.Separately, Rep. J. Randy Forbes, R-4th, has decided to donate to charity a $5,000 MZM PAC contribution. He made the decision given "the illegal and unethical circumstances that have come to light regarding the PAC and its principals," a Forbes aide said.
It remains to be seen whether this is "too little, too late" as '06 approaches.
