Fighting Global Warming means fighting Dominion-Virginia Power

If you are seriously concerned about global warming and climate change, then you need to be concerned with the lockhold Dominion-Virginia Power has on the General Assembly and Governor of Virginia.

Dominion spent more money lobbying than any other corporate interest this past session and got exactly what they wanted-reregulation that has the ratepayers of Virginia footing the bill for new coal and nuclear power and only a lukewarm commitment to renewable energy and efficiency.

The concept of a state regulated monopoly is farcical in Virginia with this monopolistic energy provider writing its own laws by buying politicians, plain and simple.

Despite the rereg bill, it is still not too late to sign up for green power provided by PEPCO. This is no defense of PEPCO which is just another dirty utility overall, except they do sell green power and they don't have the influence that Dominion has over Virginia politics.

If you'd like to sign up for green power NOW, go to: http://www.powerchoi...

Yes, Dominion has bought an interest in a wind farm that is being developed in WVA, however, given the provisions of Dominion's rereg bill this is little more than green washing.  The Wise County coal fired power plant and the NoVA power line are proof of that! Glen Besa

It's interesting to note that those who speak out for burying power lines like Del. May are those taking Dominion's money. Do we really think a solution like revenue decoupling will come about without changing control of the Assembly?
