Gov. Kaine Supports Iraq Withdrawal Timeline

According to a Hampton Roads NewsChannel 3 report, Gov. Kaine says about the Iraq War, "I think we are approaching a time where some kind of deadline, at least announced as a plan, is a good thing."  Kaine adds that "not setting those kinds of goals and timelines is causing an awful lot of frustration."  According to Newschannel 3, this is the first time Gov. Kaine has expressed these sentiments publicly, on camera (see the video).

I'm glad to see Gov. Kaine call for a deadline in Iraq, especially given that Virginia has 1,700 National Guard members, some of whom have been deployed 2 or 3 times, fighting there.

P.S.  Kaine also asks, "what's the plan, what's the endgame, what is the goal we are trying to get to?"  Good questions!

America won't leave Iraq with clean hands. (Bubby - 8/2/2007 9:56:10 AM)
The Iraqis aren't a nation and show no promise of being one this side of a blood-bath civil war.

The Sunni's see us as the people that installed and support a corrupt and incompetent Shite majority government - and have left the government.  The Shite don't have a clue as to how to administer a secular nation and run it like a tribal enterprise.  Oh, and they just took a 1 month vacation! There is no progress here.

Americans are tired of the committment and trying to ignore that there will be wholesale civil war when we leave the field.  Fact is, we just don't care enough to make a difference.  A lot of helpless people are going to die that didn't need to die. This is the price of George Bush's war. And when it happens I will be the first to call for his delivery to the Hague to stand charges. It will be the accountability moment that Conservatives talk about so much.

It has become clear that this thing will end very, very badly. And it didn't need to happen.  This is the result of arrogance and evil incarnate.
