Today, Bulova was encorsed by a group of Fairfax County school officials and parents, "Educators for Bulova." In a ceremony at 9:30 AM at George Mason University, Bulova was strongly endorsed by members of this group, including Fairfax County Federation of Teachers' President Mark Glazer, Fairfax County School Board member (and former House of Delegates candidate) Janet Oleszek, and more than a dozen others, including current 37th District delegate (and former Lt. Governor candidate) Chap Petersen.
According to this group, David Bulova understands the importance of education as an "investment in the future" in a world economy in which we're competing with brilliant students not just in other states, but also in Bangladesh and Beijing. Clearly, in the group's view, David Bulova will "best serve our interests in Richmond" with regards to education in the 21st century.
Anyway, congratulations to David Bulova on this important endorsement!
In other news, yesterday was the first annual "BulovaPalooza" at Chap Petersen's house in Fairfax. Besides having a chance to speak with Delegate Petersen for a while -- he's a great guy, by the way! -- I got to hear him STRONGLY endorse David Bulova to succeed him in the House of Delegates from the 37th District. Petersen noted that David..
*has been a friend and ally for a long time
*is not afraid to take on the establishment
*understands that "ideas matter," and "what we stand for matters"
*will "fight for ordinary citizens, homeowners and taxpayers"
*will fight for Fairfax County
Delegate Petersen ended by stating that he is "strongly supporting David Bulova," that he is "proud to support David," adn that "we have 30 days left to make this election happen."
David Bulova praised Chap Petersen as a "wonderful friend" and "great ally," whose "advice I take very seriously." Bulova predicted that Petersen's defeat for the Democratic Lt. Governor nomination would not be the end of public service for Chap, but "a new beginning."
David then spoke of his view that there is "nothing more important than a quality education system," but that we are facing a "crisis here in Virginia in that regard." Having good schools is "about our quality of life." It is also about the future, about "keeping Virginia moving forward." Finally, on a semi-humorous note, David commented that there is "no such thing as a typical 37th District voter," but that he had been listening carefully to all their concerns and would "make thoughtful decisions" when he gets to Richmond next year.
Looks like everything's falling into place for David Bulova, which is great. David's a class act and will be a delegate to make 37th District residents proud for many years to come. Go David!
