"Only Tim Kaine has a positive story to tell"

The story from tonight's debate is simple. In every answer given, Jerry Kilgore spent more time attacking Tim Kaine then offering his own vision.
Only Tim Kaine has a positive story to tell.
At the end of the debate, Larry Sabato asked both candidates to pledge that 1/2 (50%) of their ads this month would be positive. Jerry Kilgore said No. Only Tim Kaine pledged that he would do that.
That's because only Tim Kaine has a positive story to tell.
We need a Governor who has experience in more than attacking his political opponent. We need a Governor with a positive vision for Virginia.
Only Tim Kaine has a positive story to tell.

Bob, you're grasping. Tim made a pledge during the debate that at least 51% of his forthcoming advertising will be positive ads.

Tim didn't pledge that all of his ads would be positive. He pledged that over half would be.
That's because only Tim Kaine has a positive story to tell.

I agree with Dan. Questions were limited to a narrow scope despite what Larry Sabato said. The oil drilling/exploration question was the only one I heard about the environment. Kaine's biodesil answer was good but with such a short time to answer there was no discussion of fuel cell or hybrid cars, wind or any other alternative energy source. Forget conservation. That seems to have gone the way of extinct animals.
There are more issues than abortion that affect women. At least Kaine touched on education, access to contraceptives and adoption as a way to lower abortion rates. Jerry just wants to punish the Doctors.
Health care was completely ignored. Higher education issues were non existent.
Crappy questions and only 1 candidate who is worth being Governor...Tim Kaine. Jerry Kilgore is a puppet joke.

Has anyone mentioned:
That’s because only Tim Kaine has a positive story to tell.
This was a great debate. However, it was easy to tell someone had properly prepared Jerry this time.
Why does he repeat things six times? I guess its good to hammer things, but that will probably turn a lot of voters off too.
I know where you are (Brian - 4/4/2006 11:28:33 PM)
I know where you are coming from, Bob. A good, positive ad in front of Kilgore's negative ad would have been cool, symbolically. However, Jerry Kilgore is all negative, all of the time.
Bob, ad time is boug (Ben - 4/4/2006 11:28:33 PM)
Bob, ad time is bought months in advance. Tim, can think on his feet, and accept a challenge on the spot. I expect to see Tim live up to his pledge.
Because only Tim Kaine has a positive story to tell.
I found out tonight (The Rev - 4/4/2006 11:28:33 PM)
I found out tonight that the only candidate that can look at the camera and honestly and reasonable answer a question was Tim Kaine, I think that what Jerry Kilgore displayed tonight was an Insult to the people that wanted to here an answer to reasonable questions in this debate. Weaseling and attacking is a tactic that has been worn out in the political arena, and most voters are fed up with it.
Why do you think tha (Lee - 4/4/2006 11:28:33 PM)
Why do you think that voters are tired of a strategy of solely repeating lies about the opponent? The Republicans have been very successful with that strategy over the last 6 years or so, and I see no evidence that anything has changed. For example, Kilgore still leads in most polls.
Definitely! Kaine n (eileen - 4/4/2006 11:28:33 PM)
Definitely! Kaine needs to pull out the stops now. These horrible Kilgore ads have to be countered! Shouldn't be hard either, IMHO. Play up the hypocrisy of Kilgore's idea of the "culture of life". Speak to our American values (constitutional right to representation) with words like... "Virginia executes the most, second to Texas. I want a Governor who takes the death penalty seriously, and doesn't prostitute the killing of a human being for political gain." I'm sure Kaine's people could write something brilliant.
We can't lose, Lowell. Kilgore is a monster.

Ben, you and your other posting personalities are looking incredibly silly today. You have
got to stop copying and pasting that ridiculous phrase everywhere you go. Or at least pick just one pseudonym. Seriously... you're making yourself look mighty foolish.

I.Publius: You mean, ridiculous phrases like "Always have, always will" or "I trust THE PEOPLE?" Or how about repeating an old debate line aimed at Dan Quayle by Lloyd Bentsen. Oh, and by the way, Jerry Kilgore is NO LLOYD BENTSEN!!!
I agree with Dan. T (KathyinBlacksburg - 4/4/2006 11:28:33 PM)
I agree with Dan. The format stunk. It was designed to be fast-paced -- and dumbed down. This, of course, was a gift to the bonehead, Kilgore. Still, Kaine came out ahead. But the bottom line is that not only was Kilgore's performance was an insult. So too was the format.

I plurbuis- I think some people were copying my statement- I only used my name. I saw what you were talking about- it's a free country and I'm glad they did copy it.

I saw Kilgore's anti-Kaine and his stand on the death penalty this morning in the Hampton Roads area. It is completely repulsive in how twisted it is. It is so disgusting that I think it is going to blow up in Kilgore's face. People are just not that ignorant.
Eileen: I hope you'r (Lowell - 4/4/2006 11:28:33 PM)
Eileen: I hope you're right that this ad will "blow up in Kilgore's face," but I fear you're wrong about that. That's why I urge the Kaine campaign to roll out their heavy ammo at this point, while there's still time. If not, Scott "Black Hands" Howell will win again, and we Virginians will all lose -- big time.
