One of the co-signers of the letter was McLean resident and Georgetown University public policy professor Judy Feder, a Democrat challenging Wolf for his seat in next year's elections. Feder, who ran an unsuccessful campaign to unseat Wolf last year, said that she was there to influence Wolf to make a stand for an end to Bush's troop surge."I think that Frank Wolf needs to take action and vote to bring our troops home," she said. "Every vote he has taken so far with respect to Iraq has failed to do that - and we need a congressman who will vote to bring the troops home."
What's ironic is that Frank Wolf was one of the main forces behind creation of the Iraq Study Group, yet he has consistently toed the Bush Adminisration line on Iraq. For example, on July 12, Wolf voted against the "Responsible Redeployment From Iraq Act," which passed the House of Representatives by a vote of 223-201. Also on that date, Wolf voted against a bill requiring the Secretary of Defense to beging drawing down our forces in Iraq by April 1, 2008. That bill passed 221-196, without a single Republican breaking ranks.
The bottom line is that Frank Wolf CLAIMS to be a moderate, but his voting record leads to a different conclusion.
[UPDATE BY ROB: Of course, we can't really trust what Frank Wolf says and does regarding Iraq, can we?]
