that said, it will be great to see jim webb on mtp.
why a debate? the war is over. lost.
mtp (AmerIdiot - 7/13/2007 4:02:31 PM)
You are right lgb.
War is lost, stick a fork in it.
Need to stop debating and begin the action.
If both dems and repugs in congress get some backbone, and force his hand,we might find out sooner whether BushChenCo will stop this thing or go ahead with
their plans to cancel 2008 elections, disband congress, and begin the Bush Monarchy. We need to find that out before they fake a national emergency, or cause one through incompetency or conspiracy.
Lindsay Graham is not a member of the Bush Crime Family, he will not fair well as a private citizen in the Bush Monarchy.
After watching Graham gloat over the defeat (Catzmaw - 7/13/2007 5:25:05 PM)
of the Webb amendment the other night (he described the amendment as an attempt to run the war by polls) I would dearly love to see Webb kick his ass. Webb's got all the facts and figures on his side. Graham's a slippery spin doctor. Webb has to pin him down with the facts, extend his argument with references to current realities, and not let the little SOB slither away with some evasive crap about presidential authority and congressional interference in military matters.
I'll wager $50 Jim Webb makes Lindsay Graham cry... (SaveElmer - 7/13/2007 6:12:46 PM)
By the end of the show...
Whay Graham would ever agree to debate Webb on TV is beyond me...
Maybe Graham has an agreement (Teddy - 7/13/2007 6:59:18 PM)
with the host to intervene on his behalf when the going gets tough? He's slippery, even with that sweet down home accent, but I don't really think you can totally trust Russert either. Fortunately, Webb is hitting his stride nowadays, and has had plenty of experience in dealing with slippery customers on the Hill from his days as the veteran counsellor with the House Armed Services Committee long ago. He appears to relish dealing with (trouncing) these hypocrits and poseurs on the Right.
He'll certainly be crying after the show. (Nick Stump - 7/13/2007 8:18:48 PM)
Webb will kick his ass all over the studio and it's about time somebody shut this guy up. He's so smooth and sleek, like a overfed house cat.
Stop ... you're making me all tingly (Catzmaw - 7/13/2007 10:19:04 PM)
I think Graham is a cocky jerk who believes that as a former military lawyer he'll be able to take Webb. But I've been watching Webb and the way he handles debate. He's head and shoulders above where he was during the election and he believes passionately in his cause. Graham is underestimating him.
Should be interesting (Quizzical - 7/13/2007 6:24:18 PM)
I listened to Webb's speech in favor of the amendment, and a speech Graham gave opposing it. Webb argued it was within the constitutional powers of Congress, and that there was precedent, such as the law passed during the Korean War requiring a certain minimum number of weeks of training before men could be sent to Korea. Graham argued that it was unconstitutional and without precedent in history, and a recipe for disaster. MTP is probably going to be more of the same. Both can't be right -- one of these guys doesn't know what he is talking about.
Pass the popcorn (vadem - 7/14/2007 8:48:01 PM)
This is gonna be great. Take it to him, Senator.
