Wait a minute, visiting a plastics factory?
Yes, believe it or not, that's how one GOP 2008 candidate is spending his Fourth of July: "Rudy Giuliani visits a plastics plant Thursday in Daytona Beach, Fla."
Hey, gotta hand it to ol' Rudy, there's nothing more American than PLASTICS. Remember that scene from early in the movie, The Graduate?
Mr. McGuire: I want to say one word to you. Just one word.
Benjamin: Yes, sir.
Mr. McGuire: Are you listening?
Benjamin: Yes, I am.
Mr. McGuire: Plastics.
Benjamin: Just how do you mean that, sir?
I guess Rudy Giuliani is secretly "Mr. McGuire," and the rest of us are "Benjamin." Just why on earth would "Rudy" be touring a plastics factory on the Fourth of July? Maybe he's shopping for a plastic elephant like Ken Cuccinelli's? Ha.
By the way, just what, pray tell, is a plastics factory doing in Daytona Beach; what sort of thing(s)are they manufacturing? I graduated from high school in that town, and waaaay back then all we had was stock car races on the beach, a wide sand beach covered with Yankees in winter and Georgians in summer, and a dog racing track... oh, corrupt sheriffs, racism, and a still or two in the hammock country outside of town. All good cracker fun things.
