Is John McCain Toast?

Is John McCain toast? He certainly might be after this:
Republican John McCain reorganized his campaign Monday, cutting staff in every department as he raised just $11.2 million in the last three months and reported an abysmal $2 million cash on hand for his presidential bid.
You know, this is almost like a Greek tragedy. John McCain embraces George W. Bush, who savaged him in the 2000 South Carolina primary. He abandons the "straight talk express" for the straight party line. He panders to people he once called "agents of intolerance," and who still don't like or trust him anyway. He goes completely over to the dark side on Iraq. And what does he get from selling his soul in order to win the White House? How do you spell N-O-T-H-I-N-G? Sad.

Time to spread the butter and jam on him... (Kindler - 7/2/2007 8:47:05 PM)
I used to LOVE John McCain -- the
old John McCain --but the real problem here is with the core constituency of the Republican party. All the candidates have to sell themselves as Cro-Magnons in order to get nominated.
That's why Romney isn't talking about the universal health care law he signed into law in MA; that's why Rudy isn't talking about his gay marriage; that's why Fred Thompson isn't talking about his votes for campaign finance reform. The only way to get nominated by the Republicans is to either be, or to sell yourself as, a right-wing monster. Anyone actually electable is completely unacceptable.
Whoops! (Kindler - 7/2/2007 8:49:51 PM)
Sorry, I meant to say "that's why Rudy isn't talking about gay marriage", rather than "
his gay marriage"!
That photo (mkfox - 7/2/2007 10:53:15 PM)
of Bush and McCain creeps me out everytime. What's worse: That one or Bush and Lieberman kissing?
They're both vomit inducing. (Lowell - 7/2/2007 11:18:32 PM)

You're right (Glant - 7/3/2007 12:18:27 PM)
Once a candidate has fallen from "front runner" to desperate reorganization, he or she has no chance. In this case, the candidate doesn't deserve one. He blew his chance when he started trying to be Shrub, Jr.
John McCain as "hollow man" (Info_Tech_Guy - 7/4/2007 6:34:38 AM)
John McCain has long been a hypocrite. For all his talk of campaign finance reform and "independence", he has been a reliable vote for the business lobby on the issues of offshore outsourcing and worker replacement with imported non-citizens whether "illegal" or "guest workers" (agricultural, construction and skilled /professional). I don't find anything compelling in John McCain. John McCain the former military officer who upheld his honor and his nation while under torture as a POW in Vietnam has shrunk to selling himself and any real patriotic values in his quest for political re-election and self-advancement.
