Dick Wad(hams), er, Explains the 2006 Election Results

That wise sage, Dick Wad(hams), has moved onto Colorado after running the Worst Campaign Ever in Virginia last year. Having destroyed the political career of George Allen, who HAD BEEN the front runner for the Republican 2008 Presidential nomination before last November, Dick Wad(hams) now offers his profound analysis of 2006 for us to ponder and savor:
"I think anyone of our (presidential) front-runners will beat anyone of theirs," he says of the 2008 election. "I don't think Democrats really won the 2006 elections. They were just standing there. We didn?t deserve to win in 2006."
So, there you have it: according to Dick Wad(hams), it's time for Democrats to give up on 2008, because...well, I don't know, because Dick Wad(hams) says so?
Interestingly, Wad(hams) manages to blame George Allen for what was, in large part, his own fault in completely mishandling "macaca":
"It was just a dumb thing to say," Wadhams says of Allen?s macaca comment. "We just never got out from under it."
Yeah, right Dick, like coming up with crazy-ass excuses like Allen REALLY meant to say "mohawk-a" or "caca" or whatever? Like helping to turn a story that could have lasted a few days into one that lasted months? Remind us, please, how much do Republicans pay you for the great work you do? Whatever it is, it certainly isn't enough, that's all I can say! (snark)

Don't forget Eddie Gillespie (Bubby - 6/26/2007 10:22:54 AM)
I'll never forget his grand performance on Chris Matthews "Hardball", where he insisted that George Allen had "made up" the word Macaca. Matthews tried to get him to come clean, and Eddie only got more exercised in his spirited defense. Finally, Matthews laughed at him and went to a station break.
A bazillion viewers were most likely shaking their head like me and saying, "does he really think I'm that stupid?"
Gillespie was the finance man for George Allen's Senate campaign. I heard he recently took a job as purser on the Titanic. Times is tough for the Republican consultants.
Has anybody heard (Teddy - 6/26/2007 11:09:45 AM)
anything substantive about the GOP loss in 2006, expecially about the Allen campaign from those great republican wordsmiths, Lusk and Norquist? I'd love to know Lusk's view of the fatal word and how expertly the Allen campaign handled it (as if perversely using all the talented media control techniques republicans use to smear Democrats suddenly turned in their hands against their own people).
George Allen Lost 'Cause He's a L-O-S-E-R (Mimi Schaeffer - 6/26/2007 12:01:26 PM)
The biggest reason George Bubba-Allen lost is because he was an idiotic goober who was totally outmanned by the better candidate.
And the reason he won't run for the Senate seat when Warner retires is 'cause Warner is weighing his support for Rep. Tom Davis; and GOPers know without Northern Virginia, no Republican can win and will go with Warner's choice.
A commenter on MyDD wrote that Kaine should run for the Senate seat, leave the governor's mansion to the "louie." Warner then runs for governor in '09, Deeds for lieutenant governor and Dems make over the state legislation and make Virginia a blue state for a long time to come.
Interesting scenario. (Lowell - 6/26/2007 4:06:03 PM)
But I strongly doubt that Gov. Kaine would run for Senate in 2008. My guess is that Mark Warner will run for Senate next year, and win. Then, the governor's race in 2009 will probably come down to Brian Moran or Creigh Deeds vs. Bill Bolling or Bob McDonnell. Those would be tough, but winnable, races. Still, I think we should all do everything we can this year to ensure that Dems control the State Senate, and pick up as many seats as possible in the House, for whatever eventualities might unfold down the line...
Anything from Lusk (Teddy - 6/26/2007 4:11:38 PM)
and Norquist on the macaca incident and on Allen? I can recall no public comments, yet the power of words and framing is what Lusk is all about.
