Still channeling the London tabloids, but damn it, this situation is so funny, and so loaded with opportunity, I just can't help it. This is a follow-on to this piece and this one relating to the 24th district Republican primary, and now, its aftermath.

So this is the price I pay for not putting Myron's silly a** on "ignore" a lot sooner. I end up late to the REAL party.
It is well and truly eating itself. Like a guy who went home drunk from the bar with an ugly girl, it is trying to chew its arm off so as not to wake her up pulling said arm out from under her head.
Oh, joy in SWACville.
At least, from my perspective.

Yum yum.
Below the fold...........
Oooookkkkkkk.
Here's the deal.
Apparently, there is a coup attempt in SWACland. All kinds of purty words like "insubordination" and "illegal" are flying around like ball bearings from a claymore.
You see, there was this letter........

June 21, 2007

Fellow members of the Staunton Republican Committee:

As most of you know, in the wake of the Republican primary election of June 12th, the Daily News Leader (sic) and many people in our community voiced grave doubts about the local Republican Party organization in general, and its leadership in particular. Those of us who circulated the enclosed resolution believe that we as a Committee must respond on an urgent basis to the "black eye" our party has suffered. Accordingly, we have called a meeting of the Staunton Unit of the Republican Party, pursuant to the current by-laws.

Those of you who may not have been attending on a regular basis should be aware that for the past several months, some of our meetings [have] been rather tumultuous, primarily as the result of undue pressure from certain unwelcome guests. It is important to keep in mind, however, that the disagreement is not fundamentally of a personal nature, but rather is procedural. Suffice it to say that the failure to uphold Robert's Rules of Order in our meetings and the repeated cancelation of meetings (or the abrupt adjournment thereof) have prevented our Committee from functioning as a group, and we are presently at an impasse. You should also note that several members objected to the unauthorized endorsement of the challenging senatorial candidate Scott Sayre by our Chair, which may have a negative impact on Sen. Hanger's fall campaign. In light of such the internal disputes and the public criticism, [sic] it is of the utmost urgency that our committee meet as soon as possible to discuss the recent events. Failure to resolve these problems in a prompt manner will put at risk future Republican candidates in this area, and the very future of the Staunton Republican Committee.

We hope that all members of the Staunton Republican Committee (20 at present) will respond decisively to the negative press the Party has received. As a member of the committee, you have every right to be heard on these very important, though sensitive, issues. We want to hear what you have to say! Therefore, we request your presence at such meeting on June 28, 2007 at 7:00 PM in the School Board chambers on the second floor of City Hall. The meeting is open to the public and will be conducted as directed by the Party Plan of the Republican Party of Virginia, Robert's Rules of Order, and the Unit Bylaws. Please be aware that our primary objective is to get our party back to the way it used to be, with friendly, open meetings held on a regular monthly basis, reconciling the factions and working toward our common goals. If you hve any questions, you may direct them to Unit Secretary Andrew Clem at [phone number].

Thank you very much for your attention to this urgent matter.

RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, ARTICLE VII of the Plan of Organization of The Republican Party of The City of Staunton states that

We, the undersigned members of the Staunton Republican Committee, declare our desire to hold a meeting of the Committee on June 28, 2007, in lieu of the meeting that had been scheduled for June 19 but was cancelled. The two main items on th agenda will be: 1) How to respond to the negative publicity stemming from the recent 24th district senate primary campaign; and 2) How to rebuild our membership. There being 20 members on the roster at present, the signatures of at leat 7 members on this resolution shall suffice to cause the meeting call to be issued.

[Signed]

Andrew G. Clem

Only thing is, SWACgirl and Anne are crying foul.

The mama pajama rolled out of bed, and she ran to the police station
When the papa found out, he began to shout, and he started the investigation.
It's against the law
It was against the law
What the mama saw
It was against the law.

Chairman Anne Taetzsch has declared the Thursday meeting illegal. No meeting will take place.
Sixth District will continue to investigate the actions of some members of the Staunton Republican Committee.

The mama looked down and spit on the ground ev'ry time my name gets mentioned
The papa say "Oy, if I get that boy
I'm gonna stick him in the house of detention."

Spank that Monkey...er, DONKEY:

This post by SWAC GIRL is starting to firm up what I have speculated on before, that Dr. Andrew Clem is working to split the RepubliCAN Party, which in no way benefits Emmett Hanger's re-election bid this November.  Clem, along with Ray Ergenbright, and a few other Hanger supporters are apparently willing participants in this enterprise, per SWAC GIRL:

Andrew Clem, who sent the letter, was contacted and he confirmed the letter was not a fraud.

Elnora Hazlett (committee treasurer and former city treasurer who lost her reelection in 2005 to Richard Johnson) was contacted and confirmed her signature on the letter.

In a couple of days they come and take me away
But the press let the story leak
And when the radical priest come to get me released

This will give (Rev.) David Cox, the Democrat
[that would be DemocratIC, Spank....-k9k]
Candidate an actual chance at winning this November...

We's all on the cover of Newsweek
Well I'm on my way, I don't know where I'm going,

in my opinion Dr. Andrew Clem & the Slantin MisLeader know that the best way to split the very effective RepubliCAN (sic) Committee's in Staunton, Waynesboro and Augusta County is to remove them mid-term by a coup, and move that ideologically Center-Right group over to Arin Sime, the Libertarian Candidate.

I'm on my way, I'm takin' my time, but I don't know where
Goodbye Rosie, the Queen of Corona

The letter is in violation of the Staunton Committee Bylaws, Sixth District Bylaws, and the State Party Plan. Here are a few of the obvious reasons (there will be more on this later):

1) It was received on June 22, 2007 -- less than the required one-week notice necessary for meetings.

2) No one was authorized to purge the Committee of half its membership, namely 20 members, and those members did not receive any notice of their membership status which is a common practice.

3) A letter requesting a meeting would require one-third the membership, not just seven people.

See you, me and Julio down by the schoolyard

Heh!
Blood in the water.......

And popcorn for all.

Don't touch that dial - you don't know where it's been.
Best seats in the left side of the house, right here.

This calls for some tunage.
