Dear Blogging Community,

I want to thank all of you from the bottom of my heart for your support and confidence in me during my recent primary.  Your loyalty, encouragement and efforts on my behalf mean so much to me. I knew you all were there, watching my back, during the entire primary season and that was incredibly helpful to me.

I especially want to commend you all on your incredible show of financial support.  My opponent outspent us 3 to 1 and had the support of the special interests, but we had over 200 donors online contribute an amazing amount of over $15,000!

As I go forward, both through the General Election and as the Democratic Senator from the Ninth Senatorial District, please know that my door is always open. I look forward to continuing to work with you, to promote our progressive Democratic values and to ensure a better Commonwealth for our families.

Thank you again for all you did and for all you do for the Virginia Democratic Party. All of us in the Party are fortunate to have such dedicated advocates.

All of us who supported you are very proud of your work in the General Assembly and the way you conducted your campaign. We need more leaders willing to take reasonable risks to promote the progressive Democratic agenda and to let others know that there are consequences to their actions.  I know that your door will always be open to the good people of the Commonwealth.
