Intro:
"Open-source politics is the idea that social networking and participatory technologies will revolutionize our ability to follow, support, and influence political campaigns.Forget the party bosses in smokey backrooms-netroots evangelists and web consultants predict a wave of popular democracy as fundraisers meet on MySpace, YouTubers crank out attack ads, bloggers do oppo research, and cell-phone activated flash mobs hold microconventions in Second Life..."
While the article pays homage to the significant impact of tech-savvy netroots politics, the article raises other important questions: do we put too much trust in technology to "do it all" for democracy ?, are the "netroots" being co-oped by paid professional bloggers...? More will be revealed and I suppose until the article actually hits the on-line version...little will be discussed on-line !!
Oh, yes..Allen, Webb and Lowell all get a mention in the article .
