Where Have All the Women Gone in Alexandria?

The Washington Post points out:

There's something unusual about today's Democratic caucus in Alexandria to select a City Council candidate for a special election next month.

It's a crowded field: five men vying for a chance to replace former vice mayor Andrew H. Macdonald, who resigned last month.

But there are no women on the Democratic slate, unusual for a city known for the prominence of female politicians such as former mayor Patricia S. Ticer, now a state senator, and former state delegate Marian Van Landingham.

Where have all the women gone in Alexandria?  I don't know, but I guess in this case we really CAN say "let the best MAN win."
