Just a few days ago, Brimur wrote this diary about the first act of negative campaigning in the Democratic Primary contest in the 39th Senate District, and compared his mailing to one of Jerry Kilgore's from 2005.
Now, 39th district citizens will see the newest Barker mailing in which he completely mimics the Jay O'Brien attack style from 2003. If that weren't enough, he also mocks the "Vote No" campaign from 2006 by calling on Democrats to "Vote No on Greg Galligan".
Keep in mind this is all from a man who promised from the beginning of this primary to never go negative. All George Barker has shown this past week is that he will stoop as low as he needs to win, even if it means shredding his own promises. What does this say about his potential leadership style if he can't even keep a simple campaign promise to stay positive?
It appears that Barker may be desperate by putting himself above the fortunes of the Democratic party, while Greg Galligan has gone out of his way to remain positive this entire campaign. Greg Galligan has been sticking to a principled, grassroots strategy of promoting himself as the best candidate to defeat Jay O'Brien. Lets send a REAL Democrat into this fight, and give Virginia the best chance we have to turn our Senate blue.
I have to guess that you are talking about the one Barker flyer that is posted elsewhere. In that case all I can say is "so what?"
What is the significance that the two flyers have similar layouts? That does not mean they have similar content. We've seen the Barker Flyer and it clearly is NOT negative. I am not embarrassed by it in the least.
By the way -- have you now switched from attacking George to attacking me?
