| VA: Kaine 45% Kilgore 45%
September 30, 2005--The race to be Virginia's next Governor is dead even with Republican Jerry Kilgore and Democrat Tim Kaine each earning 45% of the statewide vote. |
Take a look at the full Rasmussen Poll here.
Last month's Rasmussen Poll was the first to put Kaine within the Margin of Error against Jerry Kilgore. In three previous polls from Rasmussen, Kilgore led by a solid 6%. Before that, Kilgore had an 8% lead.
With the fall campaign season in full swing, Tim Kaine has effectively eviscerated Kilgore's lead, largely by shoring up support by democrats. 82% of democrats now strongly support Kaine, up from 67% two weeks ago.
It's clear that the more Virginians get to know Tim Kaine, the more they are likely to vote for him and support his candidacy. Virginians are responding to Tim Kaine's positive message of strong leadership, results and the achievements of the Warner-Kaine administration.
Things are moving in the right direction for Tim Kaine. This campaign is so close every effort each of us puts forth makes a difference. Please, visit the Tim Kaine website and get involved now.
With less than 40 days until the November 8 election, we have to make every day count.
An interesting factoid from this poll: Only 36% of voters think that a visit from George W. Bush would help Jerry W. Kilgore's election prospects.
