*72% of Americans believe the country's headed in the wrong direction.

*By a 60%-27% margin, Americans disapprove of President Bush's handling of the immigration issue.
*By a 4:1 (43%-11%) margin, Americans believe the economy is getting worse, not better.

*Among Democratic voters, Hillary Clinton has a big lead, with 46%, compared to 24% for Obama and 14% for Edwards. By a 57%-36% margin, Democratic voters believe that Clinton can win if nominated.

*76% of Americans believe that abortion should be available, with only 21% saying it shouldn't be permitted.
*On immigration, 72% believe that America should welcome "all" (24%) or "some" (48%). Only 24% of Americans believe that "America cannot afford to open its doors to any newcomers."
*61% believe that illegal immigration is a "very serious" problem, with another 30% saying it's "somewhat" serious. Only 1% say it's "not at all serious."
*62% believe that illegal immigrants should be "given a chance to keep their jobs and eventually apply for legal status." 33% believe illegal immigrants should be deported.
*Overwhelmingly (75%), Americans favor "higher fines and increased enforcement of employers who knowingly hire illegal immigrants."
