McEachin-Lambert (?) Debate

This Sunday evening at 9 PM (that's right, not 8 PM), Ben and I will host a "debate" between Donald McEachin and Benjamin Lambert on our RK/NLS Virginia Politics show.  The reason I put "debate" in quotes is that, so far, only Del. McEachin has accepted; Sen. Lambert has not replied.  Regardless, we will have Sen. Creigh Deeds on to moderate.  Should be cool, even if it Lambert stays in the pumpkin patch (ha) and it turns into the Donald McEachin Hour! :)

Didn't Deeds intercede with the Richmond and Henrico Democratic Committees on Lambert's behalf earlier this year?  Is Deeds impartial?

the new trend in Blog Talk Radio debates.  The first few went well and now it looks like two in a row where the incumbent doesn't want to participate.

It may be classic campaign strategy for the incumbent to minimize debate time, but it really doesn't speak well for the actual candidate.  If the candidate can't stand up and tout their own record, defend against attacks, and openly debate their challenger, they really shouldn't be holding an elected office.

However, he doesn't appear particularly eager to debate Donald McEachin anywhere, let alone with two bloggers who are both strongly supporting his opponent.  Of course, if Lambert DOES come on the show, we will be as fair as possible, alternate order, and basically do everything that you're supposed to do when you're running a debate.  (hint, hint)

David Lambert is running in the 74th house race and recently made these comments at a debate:

I will be better than "the poor represenation we know have in the 74th" (McEachin)

I will push "policies not apologies".

Thanks Lowell & Ben for another informative program.  I was pleased to listen to the analysis and positive messages of my friends Senator Creigh Deeds and soon to be Virginia Senator Donald McEachin. 

Democrats across Virgina are fortunate to have RK as a stop on the information highway.
