In other words, pretty much everyone in Arlington endorses Frank O'Leary.
Endorsements for Frank O'Leary's opponent, Bob James? Well, if you look at his website, it appears that aside from his family and one school board member (Frank Wilson), James has ZERO support.
Perhaps that's why, tomorrow night, there will be a major gathering in support of Frank O'Leary at the home of Jim Turpin and Susan Prokop. I am very much looking forward to this event, and to voting for Frank O'Leary on June 12th!
What troubles me most is that the campaign promises the other guy makes are either
(1) things that O'Leary has already been doing for decades, i.e. providing transparent reporting to the taxpayers or
(2) things that are not in the purview of the treasurer (not to mention really ill-conceived ideas).
In this latter category I would put the idea of eliminating parking stickers. Only the County Board could do this, and, if they did....well, can you think of any faster way to turn all of Arlington into a commuter parking lot for all of NoVA???
Frank's team already leads the nation in terms of efficacy, so let's let them keep on keepin' on a with that as well as new innovative technology and environmental initiatives. Go Frank on June 12!
There are many people in Arlington who drive cars that are worth so little that they don't have to pay the car tax. It is only fair that those people pay $24 license fee. That is my opinion.
The way I understand it, Treasurer O'Leary has always been against the decal (and the car tax) and the decal fee. The decal used to be free until the County Board decided to charge $24. There is nothing that Bob James can do about that. I don't think the Board is interested in his proposal, or they would have agreed with O'Leary years ago...
