The York County and Newport News Professional Firefighters have already made their pick in the 96th District - Democrat Troy Farlow. This is an unprecedented move, given that Virginia's primary date has yet to pass and his opponent is still unknown. Three Republicans will be competing to be the nominee in a June 9th Firehouse primary. Speaking of Farlow's nomination, the President of the York County Professional Firefighters, Don Dinse, said this:"We felt compelled to endorse Troy because we strongly believe that he is the best candidate for this seat. Troy understands the importance of our work, and will help fight for the essential legislation which protects our Firefighters and other First Responders. It is essential that we elect someone who understands the value of these services to our communities."
