Yeah, former Virginia Governor Jim Gilmore had a Washington Post feature story about him today. Fortunately for Virginia, Gilmore says "he is not running for governor again," although he adds, "I am prepared to defend my record in Virginia." Man, I'd love to hear Mark Warner or Tim Kaine debate him on THAT!!!
In other news, the National Journal drops Gilmore to #11 (out of 12 candidates) in its latest White House 2008 rankings for Republicans. The Journal's reasoning? "When you think of 'Rudy McRomney,' do you think of Gilmore? We didn't think so." No, actually, when I think of "Rudy McRomney" I think of how pathetic the GOP Presidential frontrunners truly are. Thanks to Governor Gilmore for reminding everyone of that. Even if he is #11 out of 12 candidates.
By the way, the Post article notes that Gilmore's entire strategy at this point boils down to this: "attack, attack, attack -- and hope the rest start attacking one another as well." Ha, sounds like Gilmore has something in common with George Allen, running a "campaign on positive, constructive ideas." Er, not.

Gilmore's Pathetic (Susan P. - 5/19/2007 6:48:18 PM)
According to the article, Gilmore has one paid staffer, a front man in Iowa. Apparently he's not brave enough or dumb enough to post anyone in a storefront office anywhere in Virginia. The rest of the country may not know who the heck he is, but people in Virginia will never forget the mess he left behind. Time for an intervention from any Republicans who still care enough to spare him more embarrassment. At this rate, Gilmore will soon be #13 out of 12.
