From a Northam for Senate press release...
Dr Ralph S. Northam, candidate for Virginia State Senate, was chosen today by the Virginia Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) as the 2007 Virginia Child Advocate Award winner. Dr. Northam has been a Pediatric Neurologist at Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters in Norfolk since his release from the United States Army in 1992.
"This award recognizes all of Dr. Ralph Northam's contributions as both a pediatrician and a Virginia citizen toward improving the lives of all of our children in the Commonwealth," stated Colleen A. Kraft, M.D., President of the Virginia Chapter of AAP, in her letter to Dr. Northam. "Our pediatricians in this state are fortunate to have Dr. Northam as a voice for our children."
The Virginia Child Advocate Award comes to Northam on the heels of his third consecutive Faculty Teaching Award from Eastern Virginia Medical School, received earlier this year.
"It is a great honor to receive this award from the American Academy of Pediatrics," Northam beamed. "I look forward to continuing to serve the children of Hampton Roads, the Eastern Shore, and the rest of the Commonwealth for years to come."
