Check out the article in the Rocktown (VA) Weekly about Mark Warner as he "pedals towards [a] decision" regarding his political future. Key Warner quotes:
*"I've still got the bug [for politics]."
*"Senator Warner is a good friend. I want to wait and see what his decision [about seeking re-election] is first" (before making a decision}.
*"I like being an executive...Governor of Virginia is probably the best job in Virginia."
*"I've got to decide soon, very shortly."
And whatever you decide, sir, we will support you. In the meantime, keep up the bike riding and your work to "get consumers involved in environmental issues." We look forward to hearing from you soon, or maybe running into you on a nearby bike trail! :)

June 13th (elevandoski - 5/12/2007 11:15:05 AM)
Cough, cough... if Warner is looking for a convenient time and place to make any announcement, he could consider June 13th at the Wyndham Hotel in Virginia Beach, where he'll be anyway speaking before a bunch of Democrats assembled for their annual JJ Dinner. ;)
Too soon (sndeak - 5/12/2007 3:00:50 PM)
I wouldn't expect him to make an official decision until after the Feb 5 'Super Duper Tuesday' Presidential Primaries. He is still on many short lists for VP.
You know, while watching the Democratic debate in SC last month I couldn't help but think 'What If Mark Warner Was On Stage With This Group'.

Would have made a very, very formidable presidential contender. I think all of us on here can agree about that. But he dropped out of the race. Why? Well, we don't know why. We know what he said - but most of us probably know that's a bunch of baloney. Family reasons? Please. The guy had been running since he became Governor.
Whatever the "real" reasons are will likely come out during a Senate or Governor's race. And it probably won't be pretty. Fire up the oppo research!
Hillary's VP running mate (Villian - 5/18/2007 8:58:47 PM)
Former Governor Mark Warner is Hillary's solid "ace" to carry the "Old Dominion" for the Democrats in '08. Mark Warner is the odds on favorite to be Hillary's V-Pres. running mate because of Mark's solid and stable political support across all sections of the State and his high marks as Governor. Former Virginia Governor Mark Warner is the hottest commodity that will almost guarantee to assist a presidential candidate to the win column because of his ability to carry Virginia solidly for the Democrats. Senator, not high enough for former Governor Warner, Vice-President just about right. We need to get accustomed to viewing and speaking about Mark as the front running Democratic VP candidate.
