This Wednesday, Jim Webb signed on as a cosponsor to S.1346, also known as CHESSEA ("Chesapeake's Healthy and Environmentally Sound Stewardship of Energy and Agriculture Act of 2007"). According to President William C. Baker of the Chesapeake Bay Foundation (CBF):
This proposal is a demonstration of leadership that, when combined with state and local dollars, would fully implement the agricultural conservation practices required in the restoration roadmap that Bay scientists have developed.
The CBF also points out that "[t]he 2007 Farm Bill provides a golden opportunity to address the agricultural runoff that is responsible for more than 40 percent of the Bay's pollution."
Thanks to Jim Webb - and also to John Warner - for supporting this important legislation for the Chesapeake Bay!

Chalk up another issue in the collection (Catzmaw - 5/11/2007 5:09:16 PM)
of issues important to our "one-issue" Senator. Go Jim Webb. We need aggressive protection of the Bay and its resources.
Yeah, I wonder what Tom Davis thinks about that (Lowell - 5/11/2007 5:11:22 PM)
