In response to our buddy Bob McDonnell's "cease and desist" order to NY City Mayor Michael Bloomberg (R), with regard to New York "sending private agents into Virginia to look for illegal gun sales," here's the quote of the day (by Bloomberg's spokesman):
"We wish Attorney General McDonnell was as aggressive in enforcing the laws that prevent illegal guns from getting in the hands of criminals as he was in enforcing the laws that protect the gun lobby."
Isn't it fun when Republicans fight?

Let's thank the NYC administration (PM - 5/10/2007 9:21:18 AM)
for trying to protect its citizens.
McDonnell should read the Wayne Gilchrest interview. McDonnell is a perfect example of what has befallen the GOP.
Virginia's Attorney General will henceforth (JPTERP - 5/10/2007 9:30:17 AM)
be know as: Boberto McGonzales.
Apparently Bush Republicanism is opening up a law enforcement franchise. They sells "tough on crime" packaging, but beyond the packaging the results are sh-t.
If Bloomberg is a Republican (LAS - 5/10/2007 12:41:15 PM)
then I'm the Queen of England.
MCDonnell--now THAT's a Republican: putting the interests of the gun lobby over the security and well-being of American citizens.
The gun thing? It's all about MONEY.

Having been raised as a New Yorker, I commend Bloomberg for doing whatever he can to keep the citizens of New York safe and lowering the crime rate. I wish Virginia would close the gun show loopholes and consider our citizens more than the gun lobby for the Republcan party. I also find it hard to believe that any mentally ill person in the state of Virginia can easily purchase a weapon with no questions asked. How frightening for all of us.
And (Susan P. - 5/11/2007 6:14:24 AM)
that dangerous mentally ill people are wandering the streets instead of getting the treatment they need. Welcome to Virginia.
