Congratulations to Abby Raphael on her victory tonight in the Arlington Democratic Caucus for School Board. Given that Arlington is overwhelmingly Democratic, it's about a 99.9% chance that Abby will be elected to the School Board in November.
In other news, there were tables for two Presidential candidates, Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. I talked to volunteers for both. The Obama folks pretty much sold out everything they had - bumper stickers, buttons, etc. The Hillary Clinton people were there in force as well, although they didn't seem to be selling anything. As far as I could tell, there were no volunteers or signs for other Democratic 2008 candidates, although it's possible I just missed them...
By the way, last year's Democratic school board election was a huge success for the Webb volunteers, who probably talked to 1,000 or more voters as they exited the polls. Given that the school board election took place just a few weeks before the June 13 Senate primary, it's possible that the Webb volunteers won hundreds of votes for Webb that day. The power of the grassroots...

[UPDATE: Please note that the Hillary Clinton people were giving their materials away. My understanding is that they handed out 168 bumper stickers, more than 120 pins, and 162 invitations to a June 6 rally in DC]
And lets not start critizing campaigns just yet about money. John Kerry raised that extra money after the nomination was his - we still have a long way to go before that happens this year.
