Man, what IS it with these religious conservatives and their anti-gun bias? What a bunch of wusses. Heh.
Prosecutors and police are facing scrutiny for the decision to charge four University of Virginia students with brandishing a firearm in connection with a student filmmaking project involving a BB gun.
In the 10 days since the late-night incident at Wilsdorf Hall, some are still asking if the students should face criminal charges and if police handled the incident properly.
Meanwhile, as the students make their way through final exams this week and await a June trial, at least one has apologized.
Christopher Allen Smith, a second-year student from Tappahannock, wrote a letter to one woman who was frightened by seeing him holding the gun near the engineering building the night of April 23, according to Smith's lawyer, Charles Sipe.
"This truly is a kid who truly never had a teacher wave a finger at him," Sipe said. "He's probably never fired a gun in his entire life."
Sipe said that his client, who was among four students working on a Japanese 102 project, used an unloaded, plastic BB gun with a broken trigger to stage a robbery for a student film.
Rest of the story:
Even those on the religious right know better than to permit weapons on campus. It goes to show how isolated the wingnuts who favor concealed weapons on campus really are.
Anyway Falwell and Robetson are not religious, they belong in the same class as the other radicals around the world who pick and choose the phrases out of their religious book that meets with their agenda and forget the rest of the book.
To list all the schools which forbd guns on campus would take up the entire space of RK, so go for it Lowell, show the double talkers to the rest of the world.
