Broder's column

By now every liberal and progressive blogger in the universe has commented on David Broder's pathetic column in today's Post.  He deserves all the scorn he has received for comparing Reid to Attorney General Gonzales.

As absurd as the column is, there is a point lurking in there somewhere.  And the point, I think, is this:  Politicians need to be pragmatic.  Reid doesn't do his side any favors when he forces other Democrats to defend him, rather than attack Bush and his Republican supporters.  It is not enough that what he says is true (yes, the war really is already lost), it should be easy to defend, and difficult to attack.  Why not simply remind people that the war in Iraq is now a civil war?

Broder should quit (TheGreenMiles - 4/26/2007 1:39:24 PM)
It's sad when Robert Novak's column attacks Bush and David Broder's column defends him.  Broder should resign.

I fully support Reid's statements.  As Jim Webb said on the Senate floor today, we won the "war" four years ago, but now we're stuck in an occupation.  More Democrats need to call Iraq like they see it -- a quagmire we need to pull out of.
