"Jim Webb at 100 Days"

The Times Community Newspapers have an article on the "extended" interview they did with Senator Webb on April 13, "a progress report at the three-month mark."  Key points:

*Webb is "really proud of [his] relationship with John Warner," noting that this is "very important for the people of Virginia."

*Webb says that "For the last three months we have been spending an enormous amount of time and energy trying to reshape foreign policy and we've done it...we have the beginnings of doing it."

*Webb says we need to get the "assets to fix the problem" of Walter Reed and the military health care system in general.

*Webb says that he's "on top of" the situation at Ft. Belvoir, including improvements to the Fairfax County Parkway.

*Webb says he spends 20% of his time on long-term, "forward-looking," "trajectory" issues, like restoring "economic fairness back to this country."

*Last, Webb talks about how "immigration solutions have to come from a reasonable control of the borders, better enforcement at the employer level, and a 'realistic path' towards citizenship."

What strikes me here is that Jim Webb is focusing on exactly what he said he'd do if he got to Washington, DC.  So far, so good.  Also, I continue to be amazed at the vast improvement from our previous junior Senator in Washington, DC.  As much as Jim Webb doesn't particularly enjoy politics, he sure seems to be thriving in his new job as U.S. Senator.  We wish him another "100 days" as productive as the first 100!
