Has Dubya Gone off the Deep End?

Read the following Bush quote and decide for yourself:

The attorney general went up and gave a very candid assessment and answered every question he could possibly answer, in a way that increased my confidence in his ability to do the job. Some senators didn't like his explanation, but he answered as honestly as he could.

Uh huh.  And I've got some nice swamp land in southern Iraq to sell you, Mr. President!

As Matthew Yglesias writes, Dubya is "totally around the bend" (definition: "Insane, crazy") if his faith in Alberto Gonzales actually INCREASED following the Attorney General's pathetic, miserable, universally panned testimony the other day.  Dubya is in a "State of Denial", that's for sure, and not just on IraqGlobalWarmingStemCellsEnergyDeficitsHisPlaceInHistoryEtc.

P.S. Message to Daddy Bush: maybe THIS is why people are experiencing what you call "a little Bush fatigue."

Actually, I think Bush's confidence in Gonzo really did increase.  What he said was, "He answered as honestly (read that truthfully) as he could."  In other words, he didn't totally spew the truth and make me look bad, so my confidence has grown.

Song of Himself (Rebecca - 4/24/2007 10:03:48 AM)
Bush's incoherent thought processes and his arrogance have caused me to wax poetic so I offer my rendition of a Bush speech defending Gonzales:

Song of Himself - The Ramblings of George Bush

You know people say I don't read much but when I was on vacation I read a lot. I read Lincoln, Walt Whitman, and even classical poetry. But I want to tell you today I totally approve of my Attorney General's testimony before Congress. I always say everything is political, and justice should be too. Besides what could be more fraudulent that registering a lot of poor people to vote? Our attorneys should be investigating these things and if they won't Karl will fire them.

You see I taught Alberto how to use the good lie to further the good. But you know its not really lying when you do it for Jesus. Like it says on that Grecian Urn "Truth is lies and lies is truth. That's all you know on earth and all you need to know."

So I celebrate myself. I dance. I sway. I spin?

A lot of people say it's hard to lie, but I say you have to have faith. I take all my lies, the little white ones and the big black ones and put them under my pillow at night. By the time the truth fairy has done her work I wake up in the morning and all my enemies have just gone poof!

Like Lincoln said "With malice toward all and charity toward one give me your tired, hungry masses yearning to be free".

But I would remind them its really all about me.

Gradually, people are willing to say the truth about the emperor.

Here's John Murtha, from CNN today:

REP. JOHN MURTHA (D), PENNSYLVANIA: I think the surge has failed. I think there was no possibility that it was going to work. I think the British had 130,000 people there 50 years ago, and -- well, it was 80 years ago, and they only 2.5 million people in Iraq.

The beginning of the end for Dubya (Shenandoah Democrat - 4/24/2007 10:20:05 AM)
Today's LA Times brings the best news I've heard in awhile on the Bush-Rove politcal cabal. See here

http://www.latimes.c...

An obscure office, the Office of Special Counsel, is expanding its investigation into Rove's political machinations. This could be the beginning of the end and eventual dismemberment of the Rove-Bush politcal machine. Have a great day!

Maybe that's why Rove's so irritable these days? (Lowell - 4/24/2007 10:25:43 AM)
As evidenced by his bizzare reaction to the terrifying Sheryl Crow asking him about global warming.  Remember, this is the guy known as "Bush' brain;" what does THAT tell you about this administration?

I Hope It's Not Smoke and Mirrors! (mmc0412 - 4/24/2007 10:58:00 AM)
The guy who heads the OSC department, Scott Bloch, is a Bush appointee.  Let's just hope he's not the kind of appointee the DOJ has been hiring or keeping on the payroll.

Scott Bloch - Loyal Apparatchik (FMArouet - 4/24/2007 3:36:48 PM)
Threads at TPMmuckracker and Daily Kos today have exposed Scott Bloch's background and the office that he has stacked with loyal Bushies. Bloch is a Rovian creature. Here are links:

http://www.tpmmuckra...

http://www.dailykos....

A quick google on Scott Bloch uncovers this ploy for what it is: smokescreen and sand in the eyes. It appears to be a typical diversion by Karl Rove to sow confusion and buy time, but Democrats and reasonable Republicans on the Hill surely will not be fooled.

Perhaps the MSM will not bother to google Bloch and will be diverted for a while, though. Otherwise, this is basically a non-story. Let's dismiss it and move on. No good can come of this investigation.

Yes (norman swingvoter - 4/24/2007 11:02:21 AM)
In my opinion this guy went off the deep end a long time ago.  I note from the article above the quote below.  bush didn't actually see the testimony, but yet came to the conclusion above.  This is the same illogical thought process that he has been using for years.

--Perino later added that Bush did not watch the testimony but received updates from aides.--

He's now saying he won't fund the troops. (Lowell - 4/24/2007 12:25:47 PM)
According to NPR, "Speaking at the White House, President Bush repeats his threat to veto an Iraq war spending bill that includes a timetable for the withdrawal of United States troops from Iraq."  That's right, the Democrats have agreed to fund the troops, and Bush is saying "nope, not unless it is EXACTLY the way I want it."  Nice, just goes to show you how much Bush cares about our troops.  How many days until the 2008 election, again?
