In Albert Pollard you have a Democrat who's served in the House of Delegates in what was, and still is, a Republican-leaning district. Now, he's running for an open Senate seat in Chichester's 28th district. Albert, who spends his free time working at his local church and fire department, aims to clean-up Virginia in more ways than one. As a former head of the commonwealth's Sierra Club chapter, keeping Virginia beautiful is a priority for him. If you haven't met Albert yet, I highly encourage you to do so. He will inspire you with a capital "I".
As for House of Delegates candidate Carlos Del Toro; he's the 88th's answer to Jim Webb. The leadership that made him the highest-ranking Cuban-American in the history of the Navy is evident when you meet him. But that takes nothing away from his warmth and humanity. Fresh off fundraisers with the likes of Norman Mineta, former JFK speechwriter Ted Sorenson and Brian Moran; Leslie Byrne will host Commander Del Toro later this month in Fredericksburg as well.
With a few dozen more like them Democrats could win every seat in the commonwealth.
