You can find the full roll call vote here.
On issues from transportation to gay marriage, Republicans have proven themselves to be out of touch with the concerns of Northern Virginians. So their votes, while infuriating, are not surprising.
But Del. Caputo and Del. Hull? WTF, yo? If one of our Arlington delegates voted against the smoking ban, I wouldn't be blogging right now, I'd be TPing their houses, or kicking them in the shins, or some other form of uncivil disobedience.
I'm not thrilled with the governor's office for sloppily wording the amendment to give Del. Griffith wiggle room for his silly argument that the ban would've barred smoking at hot dog stands and wedding receptions.
But the bottom line, as Marc Fisher reports in the Washington Post today: "The American Lung Association's latest report card on laws governing smoke-free air gives the District an 'A,' Maryland a 'B' and Virginia an 'F.'" Not exactly a great report card, is it?
Anyone heard why they voted it down?
I saw this again for the second time in a couple of weeks -- someone using a hand held cellphone in one hand, smoking with the other hand. In both cases, big mother honkin SUVs. I'd ban that dual usage.
