The death toll today in Iraq is 75, according to Reuters.  And near Falluja, in a move that is unusual tactically, insurgents attacked a military position directly.  http://www.alertnet....

BAGHDAD, March 27 (Reuters) - A U.S. combat post was attacked by two suicide truck bombs and about 30 gunmen west of Baghdad on Monday, but American soldiers succeeded in repelling them and killed 15, the U.S. military said on Tuesday.***

It just strikes me as common sense that if one bolsters one's military strength in location A, the enemy will move to location B, C, etc.  But then I'm assured that the person who drew up the surge plan was a professor of military history.

Also, geographic changes in military strength can be countered by the enemy changing its temporal goals, i.e., just waiting out the troop buildup.  But again, I'm just an amateur, and I'm assured that Fred Kagan, the surge architect, is brilliant.  His surge plan is at:  http://www.aei.org/p...

UPDATE: I have been corrected by my sources who tell me they only assured me that Kagan is smarter than President Bush.
