Among other things, Bruce is a Vietnam veteran and a retired Prince William County firefighter. Bruce Roemmelt is also DOCTOR Roemmelt, as he recently earned his EdD in Education, and is an adjunct professor at the George Washington University. In other words, Bruce Roemmelt is tough AND he's smart -- the perfect combination.
As if that's not reason enough to vote for him, Bruce is running against a total nutjob who is obsessed with same-sex sodomy. has been called "Virginia's self-appointed chastity czar" by the Virginian-Pilot, opposes sex education and birth control pills, and wants to impose his extremist agenda on all the people of Virginia. If this isn't the most important Virginia House of Delegates race this year, I can't imagine which one is MORE so.
Now, Bruce Roemmelt has vowed to "hold [the] line" (see below) on dismantling Mark Warner's historic 2004 budget reform. Specifically, Roemmelt vowed to be the "wall" that will prevent the dismantling of critical investments made under this reform package. I strongly, STRONGLY urge everyone to support Bruce Roemmelt in the 13th District -- for all of our futures, we need Bruce Roemmelt in Richmond, and we need "Sideshow Bob" Marshall out of there ASAP. Thanks.

House Leaders say Democratic candidates are the "wall" that will prevent
investment rollbacks(Richmond, VA) Democratic House leaders and Bruce Roemmelt, House of Delegates candidate for the 13th district, vowed to be the "wall" that will prevent the dismantling of the investments made in the 2004 General Assembly session.
"I want to serve in the House of Delegates to continue Governor Mark Warner's legacy of standing up for fiscal integrity and making investments in Virginia's future," said Roemmelt. "I will fight against attempts to dismantle the progress we have made in the last four years."
"Governor Warner's budget reform put $110 million into Prince William County schools and over $700 million into transportation projects," Roemmelt added. "My opponent opposed that investment in 2004 and, if re-elected, he'll do everything he can to make sure that we have fewer classrooms, fewer teachers, fewer books, and more traffic."
Democratic leaders touted that working alongside Governor Mark Warner they invested over $1.5 billion in public schools, $97 million towards public safety that increased the salaries of first responders and took many deputy sheriff's off food stamps, and because of the historic budget agreement Governor Warner was able to invest over $800 million in 2005 towards transportation needs. This historic investment along with Governor Warner's responsible fiscal management helped Virginia preserve their AAA bond rating, being only one of a handful of states to have that honor, and was named "The Best Managed State" by Governing Magazine.

"Bruce Roemmelt is a strong candidate that will be the wall that prevents us from returning to the days of fiscal irresponsibility," added Delegate Brian Moran Democratic House Caucus Chairman. "He will be part of the driving force that keeps Virginia moving in the right direction."
"Delegate Robert G. Marshall opposed the historic investments in 2004 that helped grow our economy, strengthen our schools, improve our roads and gave our first responders the resources they need," said Delegate Frank Hall. "His irresponsible vote jeopardized Virginia's fiscal integrity, our roads, our schools, and our safety," added Hall
Bruce Roemmelt is a retired Prince William County fire fighter and Vietnam veteran committed to finding real solutions to our traffic and congestion problems. Roemmelt will unveil his comprehensive transportation plan on September 20 at Old Dominion Speedway in Manassas, VA.
