The question, then, was not how to go about dying, but how to go on living.[...]
...Elizabeth and John Edwards had to make a decision. They don't know how her health will progress over the next months and years. They could spend that time nesting with their family. Or they could spend it amid the exhilarating chaos of a presidential campaign, grabbing for the brass ring they've long had in sight.
Do they really have a choice?
Run, John and Elizabeth, run. Enjoy the campaign, every thrilling minute. Enjoy it together.
I couldn't agree more. Live life to the fullest, "carpe diem," cuz you never know what tomorrow will bring. Did I miss any good cliches here? But just because they are cliches doesn't make them less true...
Where there doesn't seem to be any further room for debate is whether or not John and Elizabeth are incredible people. I think anyone who saw yesterday's press conference saw some of the best America has to offer in terms of candor, courage, love and respect. During a time when we've come to expect the worst from our leaders (don't make me write a list. . .), these two are heads and shoulders above the rest.
