Check out this entry from the Ferguson for Delegate blog:
On July 18, Eric issued a debate challenge to Allen Dudley. Eric suggested three debates, one in each county of the district. The only thing Allen Dudley has to do is name the time and the place, and Eric will be there to debate the issues important to the Ninth District. The challenge was carried in three local newspapers. It was followed up by reporters asking Allen about the debates.
Since then we have spoken directly to Pete Foster, the Dudley campaign manager. We also have sent several e-mails asking about the debates.
I even went to Dudley?s headquarters to ask about the debates. When I walked in the door, the office went in to panic mode. They started scooping up papers and insisted I step outside. The campaign manager tried to speak and was silenced by Dudley?s wife. She kept telling me to leave and that they were busy. Once I stepped outside, I asked Pete Foster again if Dudley was going to debate. Mrs. Dudley put her arm up and said loudly, ?No Pete! Pete is busy, Joe. You need to leave.? The she slammed the door.
When I left, Dudley?s son A.J. (the one who Dudley tried to make a judge) came charging down the hill after me in a minivan. It was all quite comical. The funniest part was that Allen Dudley was no where to be seen.
We still want to debate, we just aren?t sure who to talk to anymore. Is it Virginia, A.J. Pete, or Allen?
Too bad Joe did not have his video camera with him for that adventure.
I guess Mrs. Dudley is right, they probably are busy. They are busy trying to figure out how in the heck Eric Ferguson is rolling right over them on his way to Richmond.
However, Kilgore should be proud. His down-ticket running mates are certainly following his lead well.
