Go Wild? No... Go Wilder!

We've added a Draft Kate Wilder website to the petition! Check it out at http://www.gowilder.com.
We really need someone to challenge Dave Albo this year and Kate is the perfect person to do it. By following the Jim Webb model from last year we have an excellent shot at removing another bad Republican from elected office in Virginia. It's time to put "progess" in Progressive and get some more worthy Democrats elected.
Run Kate Run!
And if you haven't already, please sign the Draft Kate Wilder petition.
[UPDATE: I just talked to Kate, who is very flattered about all the signatures and encouraging words from people. She says we have definitely made our point that we want her to run. Over the next couple of weeks, she'll be talking to some key people and figuring out what to do, but she's definitely thinking about it seriously. For right now, though, we need to give her a little bit of breathing room to think things through. So that's what I'm going to do. Thanks Kate. You're wonderful no matter what you decide!]

Albo will be toast.
Bruce Roemmelt just signed the petition (Lowell - 3/18/2007 2:49:35 PM)
He's #151. I also noticed that Jim Webb's former campaign manager Jessica Vanden Berg signed (#120), as did State Senate candidate Chap Petersen (#59), House of Delegates candidate Morris Meyer (#66), former Congressional candidate Shawn O'Donnell (#85), and Del. David Englin (#129).
Nice.
Here is a question (totallynext - 3/18/2007 3:20:23 PM)
David Bender signed the petition - Is this the Air America David Bender?

I don't know. (Lowell - 3/18/2007 3:42:33 PM)
Interesting, though.
Brian Moran just signed. (Lowell - 3/18/2007 3:57:23 PM)
Cool!
Can someone post the html code (Catzmaw - 3/18/2007 5:40:59 PM)
for the banner somewhere so we can put it on our blogs? I'm too incompetent to design my own.
If you right click on the image (Lowell - 3/18/2007 7:48:54 PM)
...you'll get the code. Unless you are talking about something else, that is. I'm not a techie but I play one on the blogs! :)
This ought to work (Kathy Gerber - 3/18/2007 10:47:36 PM)
As to the Update: (DanG - 3/19/2007 12:10:22 AM)
Then give her the space she needs, guys and gals. She knows that if she does in fact decide to run, she'll have the support of the netroots. Lets just sit back and pray for the best.
Thanks for the update! (pitin - 3/19/2007 1:00:21 AM)
Kate is a real class act, I e-mailed her to let her know that if she decided to run, Next Generation Democrats would be behind her 100%, and she took the time to respond and let me know that she was thankful for the offer and that she was seriously thinking things through. I was honored that she even wrote back, much less took the time to individualize an e-mail.
But I guess I wasn't the only one to e-mail her, and running for office is not a decision to be taken lightly, so I'm glad she's taking the right amount of time to think things through.
We all hope that Kate runs, but I'll respect her wishes and be "waiting by the phone" here at RK to see what she decides.

We may owe Lowell....again!!! (DanG - 3/19/2007 2:16:30 AM)
If Kate Wilder does in fact decide to run, we'll have a real shot at Albo's seat, and a shot at making Democrats at least able to impact legislation in the house. Lets give Brian an Ward what they need to win.
Lowell is just a drafting machine. I'm saying it now, if Warner decides not to run for the Senate in 2008, I'm looking for you to find us another quality candidate Lowell!
Not my update (DanG - 3/19/2007 2:49:34 AM)
I can't take credit for that. I just re-read your comment, and it looked a little weird there. I hope you weren't attributing the update to me. I was just saying that now that we know she interested, maybe the best thing for us to do is shut up a wee bit and let her think it out.
let me clarify (pitin - 3/19/2007 9:41:56 AM)
thanking RK in general (Lowell, that means you), and just responding to your comment about giving her some breathing room, and how that's probably a good idea.
Phew! (DanG - 3/19/2007 10:26:44 AM)
That's cool. I just didn't want to take credit for something I didn't do!
Actually, this was a group project of RK (Lowell - 3/19/2007 11:45:23 AM)
...as many, if not most things, are here. Thanks.

The joys of not being around for a while. I did just sign the petition. I can't think of a better candidate than Kate. I hope she does it!
