As many of you may know by now, the recount in the Virginia Attorney General's race will begin on Tuesday, December 20th at 9:00 a.m. in all 134 localities in Virginia. In order for the Deeds campaign to pull this off, and to ensure a fair and accurate recount, they need volunteers from all localities to assist in observing the process. Observers will watch and take notes as the local registrar, representatives of the local clerk's office, election board members and election officials conduct the recount. Observers will note any abnormalities and report them to the campaign immediately. The Deeds campaign will conduct a quick training course for all observers and explain the process in detail in several locations across the state next week.
Please volunteer to help.
Volunteering requires you to be available all day on the 20th, and hopefully to attend the training session. This is a big commitment, but your support is essential! This race is definitely not over, and our ability to staff a sufficient number of volunteers may decide the outcome. The number of volunteers needed varies from 4 to 42, depending on the locality. A number of people have already volunteered, but more are needed. Even if your locality has enough volunteers, please consider contacting the regional representative (contact information below) to help elsewhere.
You can follow a history of the recount here, on the Virginia Political Line.

As long as Warner stays in the news for the next 2 years he has a chance. The problem is that is a LONG way away.

This is a great article, Corey.
General Clark is one of those truly powerful leaders who combine penetrating intelligence with true courage. I'm so proud that he's a Democrat. His message resonates so clearly with the powerful positivity of Tim Kaine.
Thanks for this. I wish I could have been there.

Not in my neighborhood! Congrats... wish it was bigger, my old eyes had to squint, but the message was clear! Thanks.
SlantBlog has a brea (Corey - 4/4/2006 11:29:43 PM)
SlantBlog has a breakdown of everyone involved, in all they list 33 Senators and Congressman, 26 of whom are Republicans. Cantor his said to have taken $31,000 in contributions in exchange for letters to the president lobbying on behalf of Abramoff's clients.

I do not know if any (Corey - 4/4/2006 11:29:43 PM)
I do not know if any Democrats are involved or not, but that is besides the point: corruption is corruption and needs to be stomped out, regardless of Party. I just think it is ironic that the Republican Party that rode in on the need for ethics in our government is about to ride out because of ethics problems (it took Dems 40 years of power to lose control, Republicans were much more efficient only taking about 12 years).
With that said, I'll take bets that 90% of those involved are Republicans.
You know what, I hav (UVA Admit - 4/4/2006 11:29:43 PM)
You know what, I haven't really paid much attention to this corruption thing but if I am not mistaken, there are a couple of Congressional Dems somehow connected to Abramoff also. If the DNC or Dems want to play the corruption card, that is fine, provided that they can vouch that none of their guys is tainted! If you play with fire, be prepared to get burned by it. There needs to be more than just guilt by association
