VB Dems will be hosting the next Virginia Blog Carnival and my goal as hostess extraordinaire is to find some semblance of understanding and commonality between the warring and/or seemingly disparate factions across the Virginia blogosphere. Coz the bottomline is we all love Virginia, we love our country, we are patriotic, we want the best for our children, etc. etc. Most importantly, we are optimists - we wouldn't be bloggers if we weren't.
And correct me if I'm wrong, but I think most of us also have a longing to feel part of a larger Virginia blogging community where we each earn and collect some level of understanding and respect from our peers right, left and/or in-between. Few of us want to operate in isolation. Our blogs are public afterall. And so many of us pour so much heart and soul into our blogs. We have so much in common and we gain so little from all the rancor and bitterness that all too often permeates the blogosphere these days.
So, in hopes of planning and eventually pulling off a successful Blogs United Conference in August let's see if we can come together in this particular blog carnival and discover something new and interesting about each other. Here are 3 suggestions for blog carnival submissions:
1. Pretend that nobody has any clue what your blog is all about. Re-introduce yourself to the Virginia blogosphere. Give us some insight into who you are as a Virginia blogger. What inspires you to blog? What are your pet peeves? Is it "hits" that drive you? Do you deep down want to have a news scoop? What do you think has been your greatest contribution to blogging so far and why? Do you enjoy blogging even if for no other reason than to entertain yourself and perhaps your handful of loyal readers?
2. For those of you who like me, pretty much hate blogging about blogging, how 'bout submitting a post that you think epitomizes who you are as a blogger and explain why it is so.
3. Simply let us know if you plan on attending the bloggers conference and why.
