Wes Clark Jr. Sets The Record Straight

Clark FamilyCross Posted At Daily Kos

This is response to Kos's diary and the chatter on the blogs today, Wes Clark Jr. with his dad right next to him had this to say:

He never said he's not going to run and he's not going to commit to a timeline on when he has to announce.  The early campaign season is good for two groups of people - the fundraisers and the consultants.  The average citizen won't make up their mind until much later in the game.

Please pass along, and write about it if you can.

You'd have to meet Mrs. Clark, cause she and Katherine Waddell really don't look alike at all.

Will Wes Run? (vadem - 3/5/2007 11:41:58 PM)
For whatever reason, Kos has decided to single-handedly "remove" Clark from the race by taking his name out of an internet poll.  He "heard" the rumor from a Clark supporter that Clark said he wouldn't get in the race in the next 3 months, but none other than the esteemed Bernie Quiqley, attending the Clark-Porter-Shea shindig in Portsmouth, piped up and remarked that he was there and never heard any such thing!  Others have agreed with Bernie.

It strikes me as odd that Kos would take it upon himself to remove Wes Clark, and not leave that decision to the General himself.  Clark has a plan, so I'll wait.

Kos was wrong (drmontoya - 3/5/2007 11:46:01 PM)
At least I think this time he was. I was beaten up before about not sourcing or double checking facts. And Kos wrote a diary without doing that.

I mean, now Wes Clark Jr. is correcting Kos.

I have MUCH love and respect for Kos, but his diary earlier was very misleading.

Kos maliciously interpreted Susan's comments to fit his own vision - same stuff we are used to from MSM. (The Amy Goodman interview with General Clark was so good because it was candid, authentic and honest.) I had emails with Susan the next day and she was behind Wes as much as ever saying she would definitely support him if he ran.

but... (novademocrat - 3/6/2007 12:09:04 AM)
you are all forgetting in this - Wesley Clark cannot wait until June to get in the race.  He doesnt have the financial backing/resources, nor quite frankly the support to wait until then.  If he thinks he is going to ride a good wave in, he has another thing coming to him.

I agree with Kos - I hope Clark doesnt get in.  I just wish he would make that statement now so that everyone would finally get over him.

It's not going to take 3 months (drmontoya - 3/6/2007 12:09:50 AM)
When clark says "pretty soon" I expect something "pretty soon"

I think weeks, days maybe. Let's see.

Are you a Clark insider? (vadem - 3/6/2007 12:23:43 AM)
Just askin', novademocrat.  How do you know what financial backing Wes Clark has, or how much support he has?  And who said that he cannot wait until June?  You seem to have a lot of inside information, and I'm just curious who your sources are?

And to ask Clark supporters to get over it...didn't the Chicks sing something about people telling them to get over it?  Are you concerned of what would happen if Clark gets in?  If not, then why bother yourself with this? If he has no money and no support, what difference does it make when he gets in?

I'd wait. (Bernie Quigley - 3/6/2007 7:00:11 AM)
This is panic politics we are seeing in the Democratic race and novelty candidates are coming forth. Brooks called it "American Idol/Celebrity Deathmarch" - honed by and for MSM - could be deadly TV by next year. It is a kind of general hysteria. Clark can't enter in this realm. But the culture is changing. The leading candidates could be completely spent by April - I don't see that any of them are prepared to be President as Warner, Clark, Sebelius and a number of others are. There are no "first tier candidates" like that in this race - those running now are all seond and even third tier. This could well take a major structural turn by summer. Wes is building a party within a party as is Jim Webb - I know this will go forth and replace the old Democratic sensibility. The question is when.

That's sensible stuff, Bernie (vadem - 3/6/2007 7:55:16 AM)
Thanks for putting into context exactly why it is not too late for Wes Clark to declare his intentions to run.  He's smart enough to see that this is not the time, and he knows there is a date past which he'd be too late.  He won't make that mistake again.  Why spend his supporters' money to claw through the circus we're seeing now?  We have the Obama-Hillary show going on, with neither saying much to the public because they are so focused on each other.

Whatever Kos' motives in putting out this rumor, it's very unprofessional of him and I'll even say short sighted.  Clark essentially answered Kos tonight, typing through Wes, Jr.'s keyboard.  He didn't say any such thing and he's never given anyone a timeline of when he'll get in--just soon.
