Let's Go For It: Let's Draft Al Gore

As Al Gore prepared to attend the Oscars this past Sunday, the radical "right" began its attack on Al Gore? Why? Because they know if Al Gore runs, they are in trouble. With Democrats positioned to take our country back in 2008, Al Gore has both the best resume, a previous popular vote victory, and a post-veep evolution so compelling, that he stands head and shoulders above the remaining possibilities.
As the Draft Al Gore website says:
At a time when politicians have lost the art of inspiring and leading, Al Gore speaks the truth and speaks it from the heart. His message is born out of conviction and is often decades ahead of its time. And he never gives in to politics as usual.

Al Gore strenuously opposed the war before it happened, the "Patriot Act," and NSA spying on innocent Americans. His recent (last three years) speeches have been spectacular. And he's been a dogged supporting of work to prevent global warming. As others have reminded, he's an environmental hero. Celebrated all over the world for his heroic work on global warming, Al Gore is the one to heal relations with our allies and the world. An experienced diplomat, he's negotiated treaties for President Clinton, and is widely heralded as the most successful Vice President in the history of the US. He has both the strength and courage to do the right things to really keep us safe.
Moreover, Al Gore symbolizes what might --and should-- have been. He's both the candidate and the cause by which Democrats and Americans can rally with one voice to Take Our Country Back. It's long past time for Al Gore to lead this country. Draft Al Gore!

the silence here is deafening... (Houdon - 3/1/2007 12:56:53 AM)
I would give up at least half of my kilowatt hours per year if Gore would promise to sit this one out. Who's with me? Think about it, if we all pledge at least 200 kWh/a in exchange for Gore staying out of the race, it would be like taking 2 billion cars off the highways or closing down Dominion Power forever.
C'mon Al, it's for the children. Just stay home (and for God's sake, turn off a few lights while you're there).

MAKES REPUBLICANS SPEAK AGAINST A CANDIDATE DRAFT.
Must be rattling in his cowboy boots, that the NDC is drafting Mark Warner for senate.

I'm not sure anyone is shaking over a draft effort for a candidate who has said repeatedly that he isn't running...

I've supported Gore for a while now. I've signed numerous draft petitions, and I seriously doubt he's going to run. But he may endorse somebody in 2008, and throw his considerable strength behind whoever he wants to win.
Don't get me wrong, if Gore gets into the race, I know who I'm supporting. But I doubt he will.
Funny that you didn't say (Draft Me Please - 3/2/2007 9:54:50 AM)
that he's thrown his considerable WEIGHT behind the candidate...man did he get big. I don't understand why we are searching high and low for candidates that were on the stage 15 years ago. I think there's one name missing from this debate about drafting candidates who have said they don't want to run, GERALD BALILES. It's magic. He hasn't even gone on record saying he's not running, so I think we can turn him around and get him to run for President...or Senator....or Governor...School board? I think the RK crowd has gotten a little draft happy and that's all fine and good, but why not take this energy and pick one of the very qualified candidates already in the race and support them?
