See here for more on "A Far Too Convenient Smear: Part One."

Did you really believe they would stand by and watch a Democratic leader validated for his life's work?

No chance in hell. As we have said here before, They destroy our leaders...

...we've seen this game a few too many damm times. The trick is for them to create doubt and distraction. They need to create doubt all around the country about Al Gore. But there is no doubt.

Al Gore is a hero.

Even heroes need help - join us, add to the comments, let's find out everything we can about these guys and stop them in their tracks. Now.

For more, see here and here.  And remember, first they came for the Clintons, then they came for John Kerry, then they came for...well, you get the picture.

No surprise (Dan - 2/26/2007 11:39:03 PM)
Al Gore won because the issue was critical and the movie explained the issue in a way people can understand.  While I didn't love the film as much as most people, I think it deserved to win.  Of course, the right-wingers turn this into a political issue, which is crap.  Good post Lowell.

Gore's Energy Usage (PM - 2/26/2007 11:40:45 PM)
People of wealth and national standing live differently than you and I.  They have to.  The public doesn't expect its leaders to live in tiny houses, huddled in the dark and cold.  Or even to live moderate existences.

Public figures like the Bushes, Clintons, Kennedys, and the American upper class in general entertain constantly, hosting meetings, meeting dignitaries, etc. It is unfair to compare their energy usage to a typical homeowner's.

The difference between Bush and Gore is that Gore advocates doing something about global warming.  I'm sure Rudy and McCain have similar energy-hog lifestyles.  It comes with the territory.

Gore (S. Becker - 2/27/2007 7:51:51 AM)
"The Tennessee Center For Policy Research"

Sorry, but I don't trust any group that has "Tennessee" in their title.

Falwell weighs in (martha - 2/27/2007 8:40:31 AM)
Falwell told his congregants Sunday not to be duped by "liberal" Hollywood and politicians. He said there is no evidence of global warming and, of course, his comments came on the Sunday morning before the Academy awards. The local media commented on it and another local minister disagreed w/ Falwell. When they asked one of the WSET ( local ABC affiliate) meteorologists opinion he stated that he didn't think the impact that humans had on the environment was that significant.
Oh, really?
Falwell comments on many things political, social and otherwise in his sermons and we are so FORTUNATE to see him on many channels over and over here in Lynchburg. I know some of you may have seen what his University has done to the land behind LU. It is an eyesore, a rape of the space if you will, and we will forever have to look at the over 100 foot monogram those people have carved into the side of a once beautiful mountain.Falwell has NO respect for the environment and believes he has complete dominion over all of his land.

What is the Tennessee Center? (Lowell - 2/27/2007 9:00:03 AM)
See here:

Tennessee Center's President Drew Johnson comes straight out of the right's network, coming from Exxon-funded American Enterprise Institute and the right-wing-funded National Taxpayers Foundation.

Big surprise, huh?

This proves Gore's primary assertion (Josh - 2/27/2007 11:57:36 AM)
In the film, Gore basically lays our the primary reason for our continued national ignorance on the Climate Crisis: MONEY!

EXXON is backing an major personal smear attack on Al Gore, and the entire right-wing blog pyramid falls into line on bended knee, just the way that the oil oligarchs demand.

The primary battle here is between people powered politics and money-powered politics.  On is based on respect and freedom, the other is based on conglomerated power in the hands of the few and the willingness of the many to bend their knees in supplication.

Conservatism = Aristocracy

Contact information (Susan P. - 2/27/2007 9:33:43 AM)
You can reach this group at info@tennesseepolicy.org .
Send them an e-mail and let them know what sleazeballs they are.  Also, what office monitors utilities in Tennessee?  It would be helpful to know how they got these supposed bills -- from the utility itself, which is surely illegal, or from someone who works for it, or did they just make this stuff up out of whole cloth?  In Virginia, a complaint could be made to the SCC -- anyone know about Tennessee?

Also .... (Susan P. - 2/27/2007 10:22:39 AM)
I wonder if Rev. Falwell is willing to make his electric bills public, voluntarily of course.

Falwell's home (martha - 2/27/2007 2:57:23 PM)
You should see his house. It's huge.I can only imagine how much energy that thing uses. It sits in the middle of a middle class suburb . Fortunately the home was saved and not torn down when the houses started springing up. It's very close also to historic Sandusky, a beautiful old home that is now a museum.
The church bought the house for Falwell so he doesn't even have a mortgage. The place is surrounded by a wall and is guarded by security. He drives ( the last time I saw him) a HUGE Suburban and eats out all the time. That's when people who don't attend his church see him...pigging out at a local restaurant( sloth AND gluttony)!
Next time any of you venture to Lynchburg look for the mountain and the infamous monogram. I wonder how many tress were cut down to brand a big L U on the side of it?
