The Myth of McGovern Syndrome

Some call it the McGovern syndrome. Let's be real McGovern lost for many reasons: He wasn't particulary nice, he couldn't campagn. He looked over a citizen's shoulder when shaking hands. No eye contact, only a grim (Thatcher-like primness). He wasn't Bobby Kennedy. I wasn't much of a Bobby fan, but for those who were, McGovern clearly couldn't carry the mantle forward. He was not as liberal as most people think. But the revisionism of the Goldwater conservatives and Ronald Reagan, misportrayed history, as they were prone to do.
