Hey, whatever works, as long as there are more "Conservative Conservationists" out there like South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford (R).

That's nice (Teddy - 2/23/2007 9:50:06 AM)
but why? What is the good Guvner doin,' y'all?

Maybe he got a campaign contribution, like Rick Perry (PM - 2/23/2007 10:13:10 AM)
did from Merck right before Perry gave a push to the HPV vaccine?

Funny but (presidentialman - 2/23/2007 3:31:04 PM)
Ok, I know that environment responsibilty and Republicans go together like oil and water, but Theodore Roosevelt was a Republican, Richard Nixon, best known for wiretapping and Watergate, gave us the EPA and the Endangered Species Act, did so as a Republican, and now Arnold Shwartzeneggar is pushing for a good environmental record as a Republican, whats wrong with this new guy taking a stance on the environment? Why are you guys trading barbs like Mark Twain?

Personally, I'm thrilled to have any ally (Lowell - 2/23/2007 8:43:26 PM)
we can get on this subject.  And personally, I'm prepared to take Gov. Sanford at his word, that he really believes in stewardship over "God's creation."  In fact, there's a growing movement among religious Christians known as "creation care," so why shouldn't Gov. Sanford be a part of that?

By the way, the truly loathsome Dick Cheney is still in denial.  What a horrible human being.

New Bushism on energy policy (PM - 2/23/2007 10:14:11 AM)
From Jalopnik, another Bushism:

Bush:

"Someday you're going to be able to get in your car, particularly if you're a big-city person, and drive 40 miles on a battery. And by the way, the car doesn't have to look like a golf cart. It could be a pickup truck."

Jalopnik's comment:

What's striking about this is, ignoring the golf cart variety vehicles and long-crushed GM models, there's the Toyota RAV4-EV and Ford Ranger EV, which had ranges of 116 and 65 miles, respectively, and are still on the road.

40 miles (Rebecca - 2/23/2007 12:32:31 PM)
This reminds me of something. Who was it in the Bible who tied their a--s to a tree and walked forty miles? All humor aside, why don't we promote bikes and walking more?
