Cutting Edge Criticism from the RNC

Today, 8 Democratic Presidential Candidates gathered in Nevada. The RNC issued 7 seperate press releases on various Democrats that has obviously been gathering dust in whatever swamp these people convene in. Obama, who didn't attend today's Carson City AFSCME Forum, was included. Kucinch and Gravel, who did attend, were not included. Which proves that this had nothing to do with today's preceedings, it was just an excuse to sling mud.

An example? How about the fact that Joe Biden was the only Democrat I saw today that actually spoke in the time he was allotted, yet he's, "In Love With The Sound Of His Own Voice."

(hat tip to Hotline for accumulating this list of quotes)

Joe Biden, "An Undisciplined, Self-Described Northeast Liberal, In Love With The Sound Of His Own Voice."

Hillary Rodham Clinton, "A Calculating, Divisive, Lifelong Liberal With Political Baggage."

Chris Dodd, "A New England Liberal, Past His Prime, On An Unrealistic Vanity Run For The White House."

John Edwards, "A Hypocritical, Inexperienced Liberal With A New Negative Attitude."

Barack Obama, "An Inexperienced, Insulated, Arrogant, Unabashed Liberal."

Bill Richardson, "A Self-Promoting, Washington Insider With A Controversial Record."

Tom Vilsack, "A Tax-Hiking, Mismanaging, 'Blip' Candidate With No Foreign Policy Experience."

I also like the fact that a former Goldwater Girl is a "Lifelong Liberal."

Edwards, Obama, and Vilsack are inexperienced? God help the GOP if Romney or Giuliani get nominated.

Richardson's a Washington insider? OK, bring on McCain.

Here's the GOP playbook...blah, blah, blah, liberal, blah, blah, blah, inexperienced, blah, blah, blah, angry liberal.

It's sad and pathetic the way Republicans recycle these tired stereotypes ad nauseum. A case in point is this god awful new show on Faux News called, "The 1/2 Hour News Hour." It's supposed to be a conservative version of "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart." Here's a list of topics they covered on their inaugural episode:

-Marion Barry
-An ACLU case from 1977
-Ed Begley, Jr.
-The Bygone Era of the Obvious Laugh Track
-"Angry Lesbians"
-Che Guevara
-Chairman Mao

What is this, 1988? Actually that would explain the Reagan obsession and their attempt to make every Democrat out to be Michael Dukakis. They know America will never look like the 50's again, so they've compromised and settled on the 80's.

Can they attack the General? (drmontoya - 2/22/2007 12:34:06 AM)
That's the question I asked on Daily Kos. Can they?

Ha.

If Jesus were a Democrat (Chris Guy - 2/22/2007 1:35:43 AM)
they'd come up with something.

Pretending I'm Karl Rove for a moment (PM - 2/22/2007 9:32:36 AM)
The voters can't trust Jesus because he has a hair trigger temper--remember what he did with the moneychangers at the temple?

He won't defend the United States.  Even when he was being tortured and killed, he asked God the Father to forgive them.  Our enemies only understand force.

He accepted gifts from foreign potentates and didn't report it on his campaign finance forms.

I could go on and on . . .

Yeah, really. Come on, Wes Clark, run for the presidency (Catzmaw - 2/22/2007 7:44:54 AM)
and watch these people try to slap the "lifelong liberal" label on you.

When a party is afraid to run on issues (JPTERP - 2/22/2007 3:22:19 AM)
it invents denigrating one sentence caricatures of its opponents.

I think this pretty much sums up the RNC talking points.

Repetition (Teddy - 2/22/2007 5:11:42 AM)
is the thing. Expect to hear these characterizations repeated endlessly, until they start showing up in the Mass media as shorthand descriptions. How many times have we heard McCain is a maverick or Tom Davis is a moderate?  Then the public, having internalized the cliches, say, "Well, I dunno, there's something about (pick a name) that just makes me uneasy..."
