Coming up 4 short of the 60 needed to continue debate on Iraq. All Democrats present voted "Yes", with 7 Republicans joining them:

Snowe
Warner
Specter
Collins
Smith
Hagel
Coleman

The 10 who did not vote were 9 Republicans, most notably McCain, and Tim Johnson.

Well... (doctormatt06 - 2/17/2007 4:13:15 PM)
I'm pretty sure Reid wasn't going to bring Johnson over, unless he knew he could get to 59.  So oh well.

and Joe Liberman? (Tomanus - 2/17/2007 6:19:26 PM)
Does that mean sen Joe Lieberman voted for the resolution?

Surprise, Surprise! Lieberman voted with the Republicans! (cycle12 - 2/17/2007 7:56:50 PM)
Please click on this link to read the AP article, "Senate Gridlocks on Iraq War Resolution", which will tell you all about today's U. S. Senate vote:

http://www.adelphia....

The final sentence in the article states:
-----------------------------------------------------------
"Sen. Joe Lieberman of Connecticut, an independent who caucuses with the Democrats, sided with Republicans on the vote."
-----------------------------------------------------------
Yes, of course, "Tomanus"; that's actually no surprise at all coming from "Benedict" (Loved the earlier "Benedict" Lambert comment; had to reuse it here!) Lieberman...

Thanks again, Joe "Turncoat".

Majority of Senators (kevinceckowski - 2/17/2007 8:01:24 PM)
voted YES...for the 100 words repudiating BUSH, Inc.  It is ashame we did not make it to 60, but the point is we made it well over 50.  Rice stated that she feels the American people are wrong not to want to fight this war.  Where is she coming from?  She made a surprise visit to Baghdad and sat in the Green Zone.  Than she spoke.  Perhaps she is still whispering into the President's ear to go to war with another country as well. I think she is so full of hockey-pucks it isn't funny.

KC, you're much too polite...or: Who is the Puppeteer? (cycle12 - 2/17/2007 8:21:34 PM)
Comedy shows often feature ventriloquists who can so expertly throw their voices and manipulate puppets that it is sometimes difficult to determine who's talking and which is which.

The same is true of our President and Secretary of State:  Bush and Rice - which is the puppeteer, and who is the dummy?

I think I know...

Thanks!

Steve

Poor Norm Coleman (DanG - 2/18/2007 4:20:55 AM)
Coleman is trying to look more moderate with elections coming in 2008.  Same with Susan Collins.  They could turn into the "Lincoln Chaffees" of 2008; incumbents ousted more because of Iraq than anything else.

He Who Laughs Last (Gordie - 2/18/2007 9:27:18 AM)
Laughs best.

It is a total shame that more of our troops have to die for political reasons.

Wait a minute, some lost touch of the puppet show. Cheney and Rice are pulling the strings and the smiling dummy Bush is danceing in between.
