According to the Hotline blog, "Senate Maj. Leader Harry Reid has announced that the Senate will vote on the surge resolution this Saturday." The JJ Dinner, of course, is Saturday evening. Uh oh.

I just saw Webb today, and I think he's looking forward to JJ.

why are the house and senate allowing themselves to be manuevered into a friday/ saturday vote ? (accidentalwoman - 2/16/2007 12:14:23 AM)
if they expect the passage to get meaningfull media attention it should not be held on a friday or a saturday. they should let the republicans go home with this as a banner. voters may be dissapointed in democrats for a failure to push through a resolution (or two) but i think that they will be a little more put out with the republicans. the resolutions will not influence bush or rice so isn't the real point to influence public opinion ?
i suppose they have allready weighed the pros and cons and the major players are vastly more experienced than i am.
i expect that arrangements will be made to get both of the senators to the jj dinner.
I really hope he makes the JJ (pitin - 2/16/2007 1:38:45 AM)
He had a rally scheduled for South Carolina that Saturday, guess it just sucks to be them, but not us.
saturday vote (lgb30856 - 2/16/2007 9:15:20 AM)
while it would be terrible that obama didn't make the jj dinner, I am glad that reid is making the rethugs stay in town and take a vote.
make it an up or down vote, harry.
they would.
Obama (S. Becker - 2/16/2007 11:22:20 AM)
I agree. While it would be disappointing to miss seeing Obama on Saturday, I would respect him even more if he made the vote. After all, he is an elected U.S. Senator, and the duties associated with his job should come first.
According to (Lowell - 2/16/2007 3:04:52 PM)
this article, "Sen. Barack Obama, scheduled to be in South Carolina and Virginia Saturday, has yet to decide whether he will venture back to Capitol Hill for the vote, according to his office."
