More Gore? (Update)

Thank god. I was starting to worry we might actually go a week without an Al Gore 'will he/won't he' rumor. This one comes from Cosmo at his blog, New Hampshire Presidential Watch. He says the former Vice President called a very high profile Democrat from NH who is still uncommitted as to who they'll support for President.

...The Granite State Democrat said that he and Gore recently had "a long conversation." The call took place over the weekend and was initiated by Mr. Gore...

My first thought is former Gov. Jeanne Shaheen, who was reportedly on Gore's short list for possible runningmates in 2000. Shaheen endorsed John Kerry in 2004.  However, Cosmo refers to this unnamed Democrat as "he" in one sentence, and "they" in another. This blogger is trying to be coy, so I don't know if that's just a mistake on their part or what.

New Hampshire has a popular Democratic Governor in John Lynch, but I don't think he plans on taking sides in the presidential race. Any ideas?

UPDATE: Looks like this might be blown way out of proportion. According to the Boston Globe, State Senator Lou D'Allesandro (D-Manchester) called Gore to congratulate him on his Nobel Peace Prize nomination and the Oscar nomination for the documentary, An Inconvenient Truth. Politics didn't even come up. The article also states that D'Allesandro will likely support John Edwards for President this year.

And, on a personal note, can people please stop calling Al Gore an Oscar Nominee? Davis Guggenheim is the producer of the film and it's his nomination. There's no such thing as the 'Best Actor in a Documentary' category. And if I explain to you why that is, I give up.

It's not like Arthur Agee and William Gates won an award for Hoop Dreams. And I know Roger Smith didn't take home anything for Roger and Me. Sorry folks.

The Shaheens seem pretty committed to Hillary. Possibly the Stonyfield yogurt people who host all candidates up here. Recently they seemed to be supporting Tom Vilsack but may see him fading.

Interesting (Chris Guy - 2/6/2007 5:29:57 PM)
Bill Shaheen says he'll wait until spring to make an endorsement official.

His wife Jeanne says she's too busy with her new position at Harvard to get involved. I hope she runs against Sununu again.

Gore will accept Oscar with Guggenheim, I predict (Nell - 2/7/2007 4:57:38 PM)
The analogy with the other two documentaries fails because Gore isn't just a person appearing in someone else's script. He wrote, developed, and refined over years of delivering the presentation that became An Inconvenient Truth.
